Dalian Propeller Co. Ltd. IHS project After long deliberations the customer finally decided in 2019 to install in the new 7600㎡/35m tall manufacturing hall at the outskirts of Dalian an ultra-efficient infrared gas radiation heating system. The earlier design of a gas boiler hot water heating system was dismissed, due to low efficiency, high operating costs and the inability to control temperatures in different zones accurately. The installation of the NECreat system started on first of October, at the day China celebrated its 70th anniversary, It was completed in record time of four weeks to heat up the facility to 18C at the beginning of November. The installation of the NECreat system started on first of October, at the day China celebrated its 70th anniversary, It was completed in record time of four weeks to heat up the facility to 18C at the beginning of November. The system uses high efficiency infrared heaters with more than 70% radiation efficiency ensuring warmth on the ground, 32m below the heaters.
A sophisticated flue gas system utilizes part of the residual heat contained in flue gas and discharges the flue gas to the outside, ensuring the flue gas and condensate do not remain in the hall. Flue gas in the hall causes health problems to the workers and inside rain, when the water vapors condensates on the ceiling. After two winter period’s operation, the system has proven to be highly reliable and efficient. Even during the coldest winter days with -20℃ outside temperature the inside of the hall still can meet the requirements of 15℃. The gas consumption was more than 50% lower than the comparable gas boiler consumption. In addition, the system not only saves gas expenses, but also manpower costs, as a gas boiler requires 24h manned operation and also maintenance of the hot water distribution and heater system.
Last but not least, 50% gas consumption also saves a precious resource (heating gas in winter) and reduces CO2 emissions by more than 50%, contributing greatly to the goal of China to peak carbon emissions by 2030 and to gradually reduce emissions to 2060. By completing this project China Dalian Shipbuilding has shown its strong commitment to comply with the energy use, cost and emission reductions targets required by the central government directives.
